Viditelná kresba dřeva a přírodní hrana: proč autentický masiv v roce 2026 ovládá interiéry

Visible wood grain and live edge: why authentic solid wood will dominate interiors in 2026

In 2026, interiors are returning to authenticity – visible wood grain, knots, and live edges are no longer flaws but the main adornment. In a small workshop in the Beskids, we know why solid oak and ash from higher altitudes give a table a soul that will last for generations.

In recent years, interiors have seen a wave of smooth, uniform surfaces. This year, that's changing. Designers and homeowners alike are rediscovering wood that has its history written directly on its surface – annual rings, knots, natural color transitions, and a live edge that resembles a tree trunk.

In our workshop in the heart of the Beskydy Mountains, this is nothing new. For over ten years, we have been selecting oak and ash from higher altitudes, where trees grow slower and the wood is denser. Each annual ring carries the story of cold winters and short summers. When we oil such a board with natural OSMO oil, the grain comes alive. And the table becomes the center of the home, not just a practical piece of furniture.

Why now?

The year 2026 brings a strong return to organic shapes and tactile materials. People no longer want tables that look the same as their neighbors'. They want a piece that has character. A live edge and visible wood grain offer exactly that – each table is unique.

Comparison of live edge and straight edge on a solid wood table top

In our SIRIUS, BETELGEUSE, or CANOPUS tables, you can choose a straight, beveled, or live edge. The live edge preserves the natural shape of the trunk. It's not a trend. It's respect for the material.

What makes wood from the higher altitudes of the Beskydy Mountains exceptional

Oak and ash from higher altitudes grow slower. This gives them higher density and strength. The board is more stable, warps less, and ages beautifully. No veneer, no shortcuts. Just solid wood, hand-glued joints under pressure, and a final treatment with natural oil that protects the wood while allowing it to breathe.

When you look at the detail of the board, you see not only the grain but also that the table has a soul. And that's exactly what people are looking for today – a place where family gathers, where stories are told, and where time slows down.

How such a table fits into a modern interior

Authentic solid wood blends perfectly with Scandinavian simplicity, industrial style, and warm minimalism. The metal base we use adds lightness and modern lines, while the wood brings warmth. The result is not a rustic cabin, but a contemporary, serene home.

The practical side – care is not complicated

An oiled surface can withstand everyday life. A soft cloth, quick wiping of spilled liquids, and occasional light reapplication of oil are all it takes. More about care can be found in our guide "How to care for a solid wood table."

In the workshop, we always say: a table is not just furniture. It's a place that brings people together. And when it has visible grain and a live edge, it reminds us every day where the wood came from – from the Beskydy forests.
